Digital tachometers operate on a fairly simple principle. Thus, the process takes place thanks to the spark plug, which is part of the ignition system of the tachometer. Every time the spark plug ignites, it sends data to the tachometer. Based on this data, electronic tachometers calculate voltage per minute. In voltage calculations, an average result is obtained depending on shocks.
When the tachometer is used, signals coming from the data detection head are activated through a two-wire cable. Then, the data reaches the dashboard, and through the tachometer, the vehicle’s control unit automatically makes adjustments for speeds and acceleration. If the adjustments and measurements made through this tachometer are not performed, long-term use may negatively affect the vehicle’s lifespan.

Tachometer variants that have dials and needles complicate the process, which is why they are not preferred nowadays.
