Projectors can be used both for personal purposes and for various other applications. Especially in schools and other educational institutions, projectors are frequently used. Aside from these, projection systems are also utilized in cinemas and conference halls. Projectors serve essential purposes such as education or healthcare. They can even be used in very large spaces depending on the light intensity and screen size.
How Does a Projector Work?
The light emitted by the source passes through certain filters. Color separation occurs, and the colors are reunited in a combining tube. During this process, the image is formed and projected onto the screen through the lens. Reflection takes place on a flat surface, and the internal lamp allows the device to function. The process begins by receiving the video signal, with devices being classified based on LCD and DLP technologies. Viewing the image happens through the reflection of the existing video signal.
For this process, high-intensity light is used, and image quality depends on this light. There are various models of compact projectors, each suitable for different uses. In projector usage, technical aspects such as screen resolution play an important role.
Types of Projectors
Projectors are classified into three types: DLP, LCD, and LED. Currently, the most commonly used and preferred are LCD and DLP projectors.
LCD Projector
LCD projectors contain three LCD panels made of glass, called RGB (Red-Green-Blue). The light passing through these three panels is projected onto the wall through a dichroic prism lens. The dichroic (two-color) mirror system is used to separate the lamp light into red, green, and blue components. The prism forms a rectangular body.
DLP Projector
DLP (Digital Light Processing) projectors use a DMD (Digital Micromirror Device) system, defined as an optical semiconductor. The chips in the DMD structure consist of thousands of tiny aluminum mirrors, each corresponding to a pixel in the projected image.
LED Projector
One of the main features of LED projectors is the long lifespan of the lamp. All projectors have a lamp lifespan, but compared to LCD projectors, LED projectors are much more advantageous in use.
